2020 Exhibitor Guide

General Rules & Regulations For Entries / Submissions

All entries must be the original work of the Exhibitor; entries submitted must NOT have been shown at a previous Aldergrove Fair.

If any entry merits such recognition, ribbons will be awarded for first, second, and third place in each class. Judging is based on the quality of the work. Prize ribbons awarded by the judges will be displayed on the entries for the duration of the Fair event on Saturday, July 18.

You do not have to be an Aldergrove resident to enter. Everyone is welcome, at any age!

Exhibit Drop Off

Deadline for exhibit drop off is July 16, 2020 between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm.

Gardening Entries – Drop Off at Aldergrove Community Garden

Due to Covid-19 we have separated the gardening portion of our exhibits to an outside location.

Exhibit Pick Up

Date to pick up exhibits is Sunday, July 19, 2020.

All entries MUST be picked up between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 19, 2020. Entries left after 4:00 pm will be donated to charity; food items will be composted.

NOTE: The Association reserves the right to reject or disqualify any entry that is objectionable or offensive in any way. The Association is not responsible for any entries that are damaged, lost, or stolen during the Fair. Please leave valuable and irreplaceable items at home.

Divisions & Classes

Division A: Eggs

Open to all ages

All egg entries must be from your own chickens, no store bought.

Class #:

  1. Brown chicken eggs – 6 eggs
  2. White chicken eggs – 6 eggs
  3. Colourful eggs, any variety – 6 eggs

Division B: Baking & Canning

Open to all ages

No store-bought mixes; you may enter 1 to 3 entries for each class.

All entries must have an attached label identifying the entry (e.g., Blueberry muffins) baked goods on a disposable plate of appropriate size and covered with a Ziploc-type bag.

All canned goods must be sealed in standard canning jars with new rings and lids. Use 125 to 500 mL jars. Rings must be loose, but seals are not broken. Canning entries may be made last year. Please no freezer jams or fresh jams, due to Fraser Health standards.

  1. Muffins, 1 kind – 3 of each, 1 cut in half
  2. Cookies, 1 kind – 3 of each, 1 cut in half
  3. Pickles, any type
  4. Canning, any type
  5. Jam or Jelly, any type

Division C: Crafts

Open to all ages

This Division includes useful and decorative items made completely by hand or by using only simple tools. Crafts are judged on creativity, quality of work, and pleasing esthetics. You may enter 1 to 3 entries in each class.

Class #:

  1. Handmade wood, any project
  2. Handmade metal, any project
  3. Handmade soap, any type
  4. Handmade candles, any type
  5. Crochet or knit project, any type
  6. Quilting, any type
  7. Needlework, any type

Division D: Gardening

Open to all ages

Class #:

  1. Flower arrangement
  2. Fruit or vegetable basket (home grown produce)
  3. Planted pot herbs

Division E: Youth Categories

Open to ages 10 years and under

Please no store bought mixes. Attach a label identifying the entry (e.g., Blueberry muffins). Place all baked goods on a disposable plate / tray of appropriate size and covered with a Ziploc-type bag. May enter 1 to 3 entries for each class.

Rock collection, in box or case, covered
Colour picture (maybe from a coloring book)

2020 BC Fairs Members’ Choice Award Categories

One entry from each category exhibited at the 2020 Aldergrove Fair can be submitted into the 2020 BC Fairs Members’ Choice Awards program.

Winning exhibits from the Aldergrove Fair to be judged by voting ballot at the BC Fairs Conference this October 22-24 at Sun Peaks Grand Hotel & Conference Centre.

BC Fairs will award a $50 gift card to the selected winner in each category!

Category #1 – Arts and Crafts

Youth (12 years and under)


The exhibitor will create a story board depicting a farm activity using any medium – paint, sewing, embellishments, and mixed media. The exhibitor would then provide the written story that they have created. The storyboard may be made of cardboard, felt, or any other medium. The storyboard should be no more than 14″ x 20″ in size.

Category #2 – Sewing

Open to all ages

Quilted Wall Hanging (36″ x 45″) – Local Fair Theme

Using the theme of your local farm create a Wall Hanging depicting the theme of the local Farm. The Exhibitor may use embellishments such as ribbon, buttons, bows, etc. Any quilting or mixed media style may be incorporated. The wall-hanging should incorporate a hanging sleeve on the back.

Category #3 – Photography

Open to all ages

Theme: History of Family Farming in BC

Create a montage of 4 photographs depicting the History of Family Farming in BC from early years to present. You will provide a set of four images sized 5″ x 7″, each mounted on a 6″ x 8″ background. The chosen colour of the background should enhance your pictures. The four pictures should then be placed on a poster board – side by side – showing how farming has progressed over the years. The overall poster should also include a theme.
